Skream - Nike+ Sport Music Presents 'Galassia'

Skream - Nike+ Sport Music Presents 'Galassia'

Details:
Following the success of Simian Mobile Disco, Skream is the next artist to create a bespoke track for Nike+ Sport Music, a Nike project to create soundtracks to accompany the perfect run.. Showcasing some of the hottest UK talent around, each track has been exclusively created for the project inspired with the brief of enhancing a runner’s performance,, with Skream’s dub-stepped, driving ‘Gallasia’ released on 24th November 2008.

In a deal with EMI Music Publishing UK, dub-step pioneer Skream; Warp Records signed Jackson and electro lords Simian Mobile Disco have all composed unique tracks for the Nike+ Sport Music project. Each artist was inspired by running in the composition and so each track is bespoke to fit a 30 minute warm up, running workout and warm down, setting the pace and BPM to match the runner’s journey.

With the massive hit ‘Midnight Request Line’ firmly stamped as a dub-step classic, Skream has gone on to produce other dancefloor favorites such as Blipstream and the Skreamizm EPs.
No stranger to creating inspirational music, Skream’s Nike+ Sport Music track ‘Galassia’ is full of his trademark sub-bass and glitchy driving beats. Slowly building from swirling synths and ravey ‘4x4’ drums into reverbed symbols and trance-like melodies: ‘Galassia’ is a journey.

The next artist involved in the Nike+ Sport Music project, Jackson, will release his track at the beginning of the New Year providing runners with the ultimate catalyst to jog off that excess Christmas weight. All tracks will be sold for £3.99 through iTunes Music Store, to be used with the Nike+ iPod Sport Kit.

Simon Pestridge, Marketing Director for Nike UK and Ireland comments “The link between exercise and music has long been established and we’ve worked to push these two elements even closer. By working with Nike+ athletes and examining the perfect formula for music to train to, the artists have used music and created their tracks that become a driver, a pacesetter and almost a personal trainer for the runner.”

Austin Wilde, EMI Music Publishing’s vice president of A&R and creative exploitation comments “Following the success of LCD Soundsystem’s ’45.33’ – the first ever custom track made for runners and Nike+ - we realised there was great potential to work with other EMI artists to create bespoke running tracks. And it’s not just limited to dance acts as the track by dub-step artist Skream has proven. By working within these new parameters, the artists have all created totally unique pieces of music”.

Skream, ‘Galassia’ producer comments “Music makes you want to move – it is a natural inspiration for movement when combining different BPMs one can influence a persons energy both physically and mentally”
